Washington/Ottawa, February 19, SPA -- US President Barack Obama arrived Thursday in Ottawa, Canada, on his first foreign visit since taking office January 20, where he was greeted at the airport by Governor General Michaelle Jean, according to dpa. Obama's motorcade arrived at Parliament Hill, with tens of thousands of Canadian supporters cheering him on. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper greeted him at the rotunda, and the two leaders went into a private meeting, which was to be followed by a working lunch and a news conference. Before leaving Canada in the afternoon, Obama was to have a private meeting with opposition leader Ignatieff of the Liberal Party. Trade and the NATO mission in Afghanistan were among the contentious issues likely to be discussed during Obama's seven-hour trip, as both countries grapple with the global economic crisis.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/637107
