DHAKA, Bangladesh, December 30, SPA -- Bangladeshi voters handed the alliance led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina alandslide victory in results announced Tuesday. The voting Monday was the most peaceful in decades, Associated Press reported. Election Commission Secretary Humayun Kabir said Hasina'salliance won a two-thirds majority in Parliament aftervotes in most districts had been tallied. «This has been a very free and fair election,» Kabirtold reporters at his office in the capital of Dhaka.
