KABUL, Afghanistan, July 17, SPA -- NATO-led and Afghan troopscalled in air strikes against insurgents in westernAfghanistan on Thursday, killing at least 10 of them andwounding four civilians, Afghan officials said. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, a defense ministry spokesman,said «tens of enemy» were killed during the jointoperation in Shindand district of Herat province. Humayun Azizi, the head of Herat's provincial council,said 10 to 12 insurgents were killed in the air strikes andthere were reports of civilian casualties.
