MOSCOW, August 25, SPA -- The Russian parliament has voted unanimouslyto ask the president to recognize Georgia's two breakawayregions as independent, the Associated Press reported. Monday's votes to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia asindependent from Georgia were not legally binding. RussianPresident Dmitry Medvedev will make the final call ondiplomatic recognition. The move follows intense fighting between Russia andGeorgia over South Ossetia.
