United Nations, April 02, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on Tuesday recommended “continued calm” following Zimbabwe’s weekend election and urged electoral officials to provide “the utmost transparency” in the vote count, his office said. “The secretary-general has been closely following the situation in Zimbabwe, where results are still emerging from last weekend’s elections, " Ban’s office said in a statement. “As the counting and, "tabulation of votes continues, he calls for continued calm and he urges the utmost transparency be exercised so that the people of Zimbabwe can have full confidence in the process, " the statement said. President Robert Mugabe is competing against Morgan Tsvangirai and Simba Makoni. The elections were held on Saturday and the winner has yet to be announced. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/542246
