COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, September 13, SPA -- Sri Lanka's air force Saturdaybombed a well-fortified Tamil Tiger rebel compound in theirnorthern stronghold, while a rebel ambush killed apoliceman in the east, the military said. The bombing was carried out in Kilinochchi district andthe pilots reported the raid to be successful, the militarysaid in a statement. It gave no details of damage orcasualties caused by the bombing. Meanwhile rebels attacked a police guard post in easternBatticaloa district Saturday killing one policeman, thestatement was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Sporadic clashes Friday along the northern front lineskilled nine Tamil Tigers and one soldier, the militaryadded.
