PESHAWAR, Pakistan, June 09 (SPA) - Suspected militantskilled four policemen in an ambush near Pakistan's northwesterncity of Peshawar on Monday, a police official said. The militants armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles openedfire on a police van then threw an explosive, setting thevehicle alight, in an attack about 10 km (6 miles) south ofPeshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province. "Four policemen have been killed in an attack that happenedwell after midnight," police officer Nasir-ul-Mulk Bangashwas quoted as saying by Reuters. He suspected it was a revenge attack, after police killed amilitant during a clash last week in the nearby town ofNowshera. Separately, four children were killed in an explosion inthe northern town of Chitral late on Sunday. Police said it wasinvestigating the cause of the blast.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/563543
