U.N. Chief, Security Council Condemn Afghanistan Attack

United Nations, April 29, SPA -- The Untied Nations (U.N.) Security Council on Monday strongly condemned attacks they deemed an act of terrorism on an Afghani ceremony that Afghani President Hamid Karzai attended. U.N. Chief Ban Ki-Moon also strongly condemned the attack against President Karzai which killed two parliamentary members and injured nine civilians counting two Afghan National Police officers. “I condemn in the strongest terms the attack against President Karzai that occurred at a victory parade in, "abul today,” Ban said in a statement. “This attack against the legitimate institutions of the Afghan state and the Afghan people is unacceptable,” Ban added. Both Ban and the 15-member council sent their condolences to the victims’ families and support to the Afghan government and President Karzai. The Security Council noted that the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/550961
