More than forty militants were killed, says Pakistani army

ISLAMABAD, JAN 24, SPA -- More than forty militants and eight soldiers have been killed in two days clashes in the tribal area of South Waziristan near the Afghan border, Pakistan Army said in a statement. As many as thirty miscreants were arrested, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. Security forces have carried out operations in Spinkai Raghzai, Nawazkot, Tiarza and its surrounding areas. Militants were killed in a series of raids on Wednesday and Thursday during clashes with the army who were backed by artillery and helicopter. Security forces have moved 3 tanks in Jandola to protect military convoys that are on the move as the army advances in the area.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/520602
