Riyadh, August 23, SPA -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al-Attiyah has praised the important visit of Qatari EmirSheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who is also the current chairman of the GCC Supreme Council, to Iran and the talks he held with the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Attiyah said the visit of the Emir reflected the keenness of the GCC states on establishing constructive dialogue in order to strengthen ties with all countries in various fields as well as reinforcing peace, security and stability in the region. In this respect, Al Attiyah also hailed the role of Qatar and its wise and positive vision under the leadership of the Emir towards dealing with the current challenges that are facing the region at the Gulf, Arab and Islamic levels with a view to achieve the interest of region’s countries and their stability. The Emir was accompanied by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani and a high-level official delegation for a short visit to Tehran during the weekend.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/584186
