KABUL, Afghanistan, August 20, SPA -- French President Nicolas Sarkozyvisited a military area in Kabul on Wednesday where thebodies of 10 French soldiers killed in battle lay beforethey were to be flown home. Clashes in the east killed 19Taliban fighters, officials were quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Sarkozy spoke to French troops from units who lost some ofthe 10 soldiers killed in a fierce Taliban ambush andfirefight in mountains about 30 miles (50 kilometers) eastof Kabul on Monday. The French president also visited some of the 21 soldierswounded in the battle.
