NABLUS, West Bank, March 30, SPA -- A clash between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli troops in the West Bank hasended. The incident occurred Sunday at a checkpoint near the cityof Nablus, Reuters reported. Several hundred protesters approached the Hawaracheckpoint and scuffled with troops. The soldiers respondedwith tear gas and stun grenades and detained two people. There were no serious injuries reported. The army says it used only non-lethal measures to dispersethe crowd. It also says anyone who was detained has beenreleased. The protest marked «Land Day,» a date observed mainly byArabs inside Israel to protest land seizures and governmentdiscrimination.
