Around 1,000 international observers to monitor elections

ISLAMABAD, FEB 13, SPA -- Nearly 1,000 international observers and journalists and 20,000 local observers would monitor the February 18 parliamentary elections, officials said. Foreign observers have been advised to stay away from Swat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Malakand Agency, Hangu, Tank, Bannu, South and North Waziristan Agencies, Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency, FR Kohat, Darra Adam Khel, FR Bannu, Kacha Area of Sindh and Kohlu, Dera Bugti and Killa Abdullah in Balochistan because of the security situation. The Interior Ministry has declared 8,928 polling stations as most sensitive , 19,380 as sensitive and 35,868 as normal. Polling stations declared as sensitive would need increased deployment of security forces.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/526645
