TOKYO, October 16, SPA -- U. S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer denied Tuesday that any of the fuel supplied by Japan to U. S. naval vessels in the Indian Ocean in support of antiterrorism activities in and around Afghanistan was used by the U. S. military for operations in Iraq. ''We have checked the records and I can say without qualification that all the oil that we received from Japan has gone into Operation Enduring Freedom (in Afghanistan),'' Schieffer told reporters in Tokyo. ''We'll be releasing a statement shortly in support of that, but I can say that no oil has gone into Operation Iraqi Freedom,'' the ambassador said after talks with Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura at the prime minister's office, according to a report of news agency Kyodo.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/490781
