DHAKA, September 30, SPA -- The Bangladesh High Court granted bail to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who was arrestedearlier this month on corruption charges, her lawyer saidSunday. The court also stayed the proceedings of the graft casebrought against Zia under emergency rules, Ruhul Quddussaid. Zia, along with her younger son Arafat Rahman, wasdetained on Sept. 3 in a graft case involving containerterminal contracts. Zia's lawyers petitioned the High Courtchallenging the case, the Associated Press reported. It was not clear when Zia, who is being held at amakeshift prison near the Parliament building, would bereleased. The government plans to appeal Sunday's bail ruling, acourt official said on condition of anonymity as he was notauthorized to talk to the media.
