Tel Aviv, March 25, SPA -- Israel's defense minister says he willsoon allow 600 foreign-trained Palestinian police to takeup positions in a West Bank town, the Associated Press reported. Ehud Barak says the officers will be deployed in Jenin. The town is a site of frequent clashes between Israelisoldiers and Palestinian fighters. The deployment is seen as an important step by themoderate Palestinian government to restore law and order inthe West Bank.
