TEHRAN, December 13, SPA -- Iranian police on Thursday killed 12 persons suspected of terrorist activities and detained five others in a shootout in the southeastern province ofSistan-Baluchistan, the state television reported. The TV report said police were pursuing a group of«counterrevolutionaries who planned sabotage, ethnicaldisputes and bombings across the country,» clashed withthem and killed their leader and 11 others near the town ofIranshahr, about 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) southeastof the capital, Tehran.
