New Delhi, Feb 10, SPA -- Police in India's northern state of UttarPradesh arrested six terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toibagroup suspected of planning attacks in the financial hub of Mumbai,DPA quoted officials as saying Sunday. The suspects were arrestedfrom two locations in the state Saturday night, the state's toppolice official Vikram Singh said. He said the suspects were behind the January 1 suicide attack on apolice camp that killed seven policemen and one civilian. "The attack on Indian Institute of Science in southern Bangalorecity in 2005 in which a professor was killed was also carried out bythese suicide attackers," Singh said. "They had plans to carry out attacks in Mumbai's Churchgate areaas well as the Bombay Stock Exchange (Sensex)," he added. According to the state police, three suspects were arrested in thecapital Lucknow, while the others were captured in Bareilly town,about 250 kilometres north-west of the city. Police also seized two automatic rifles, five grenades andammunition from their possession. The Lashkar-e-Toiba is one of the most notorious terror outfits inIndia. The group is suspected of the 2006 Mumbai train bombings thatkilled 186 people, and an attack on the Indian parliament in 2001.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/525744
