BAGHDAD, November 13, SPA -- At least seven Iraqis were killed early Tuesday, including a policeman and his 13-year-old son gunned down in northern Iraq, police said. Capt. Mohammed Jamil, a Kurd, was driving his familythrough their ethnically mixed hometown of Kirkuk, when asedan pulled up alongside him, according to Col. SardarMoufri, one of Jamil's colleagues. Four men riding in the sedan showered Jamil's car withbullets, killing him and his son, Moufri said. Jamil's wifewas injured in the attack, which happened around 8 a.m., hesaid. About 30 minutes earlier, another senior Iraqi policeofficer survived an attack on his convoy in another area onthe west side of Kirkuk, Moufri said. A roadside bombexploded next to Brig. Sarhad Qadir's car, injuring threeof his guards, Moufri said. The officer escaped unharmed. Kirkuk lies about 290 kilometers (180 miles) north ofBaghdad. Meanwhile in a Sunni area south of Baghdad, two civilianswere killed and two others wounded when a roadside bombexploded next to their car, police added. Farther south in Hillah, about 95 kilometers (60 miles)south of the capital, another drive-by shooting killed aconstruction worker who was on contract with the U.S. military, police said. U.S. officials had no immediatecomment on the incident. And in Baqouba, police said two Iraqi army soldiers werekilled and two others injured Tuesday when a roadside bombwent off next to their patrol, the Associated Press reported.
