New Delhi, Oct 5, SPA -- India and the Philippines on Friday enhancedtheir bilateral relationship by signing nine accords that range fromcooperation in trade and energy to combating international terrorism, reported dpa. The agreements were signed after Indian Prime Minister ManmohanSingh held talks with Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo atthe Hyderabad House in New Delhi. According to a statement by the Indian Foreign Ministry, the twocountries issued a joint declaration on a framework of bilateralcooperation which seeks to establish a multi-faceted partnership. Besides high-level visits, India and the Philippines willestablish a joint commission and encourage cooperation in a number ofsectors including health and pharmaceuticals, information technology,mining, real estate, science and technology and agriculture. The two countries also signed a joint declaration to combatinternational terrorism, which envisages information sharing,cooperation amongst law enforcing agencies, cooperation in preventingand suppressing financing of terrorist acts. Other accords inked included agreements that envisage cooperationin health and medicine and renewable energy technologies as well ascooperation between trading corporations to export and import variousproducts. The discussions between the two leaders covered a wide gamut ofbilateral and international relations, including UN reforms, climatechange and the human rights situation in Myanmar including theincarcerated leader Aung San Suu Kyi.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/488286
