Tehran, October 16, SPA -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Tuesday on the littoral states of the Caspian Sea to cooperate towards regional and global peace. "The cooperation of our five countries will not only benefit ourown region's but also global peace," Ahmadinejad told theopening ceremony of the summit in the Iranian capital - Tehran. Ahmadinejad stressed the need to find a suitable framework tocontinue the peaceful co-existence from which all sides wouldbenefit. The Iranian leader's speech was followed by speeches by heads of states of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan who also gathered at the summit. The summit is another effort to find a legal status for theCaspian Sea since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, news agency DPA reported.
