Iran's negotiator speaks on nuclear talks

TEHRAN, August 21, SPA -- Iran's top nuclear negotiator warnedon Tuesday that any new U.N. Security Council sanctions onhis country would doom Iran's cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog and render its talks with it«fruitless.» According to state television, Ali Larijani said «If they (U.S.) take any illogical move, the trend of Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency as well as the talks will become fruitless.» The comments came as senior IAEA and Iranian officialswent into a second day of key talks in Tehran, in effortsto resolve remaining issues surrounding Iran's nuclear program. The talks are critical because their outcome is to be thebasis for a progress report by IAEA chief, MohamedElBaradei, before the agency's September meeting, the Associated Press reported. Larijani said the U.S. and its allies won't achieveanything by coercion and threats. «What have they achieved from their hardline approach sofar?
