New Delhi, Aug 08, SPA -- India and Bangladesh Tuesday began two-day talks to iron out differences on sharing of waters of some of the common rivers. The outstanding issues between the two countries prominently figured at the Water Secretary-level parleys, which would conclude later today. Discussion on dredging of river Icchamati, minor lift irrigation and drinking water supply schemes, river bank protection programmes and sharing of waters of common rivers are some of the issues high on the agenda, Water Ministry sources said. While the 18-member Bangladesh delegation is led by its Water Resources Secretary Syed Mohd Zobaer, the Indian team is headed by Secretary in the Water Resources Ministry Gauri Chatterjee, the Press Trust of India reported.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/473623
