Tehran, September 08, SPA -- Iran Saturday rejected a decision by the US Federal Court obliging Iran to pay $2.65 billion for the 1983 bombing of a Marine barracks in Beirut. The 'Mehr' news agency quoted Justice Minister Gholam-Hossein Elham as terming the ruling "one of the many court decisions by the US without considering basic legal principles." The minister added: "Such rulings are baseless, illogical andirrelevant as the standpoints of the other side are not even asked tobe heard - the US is trying to get illegal access to (frozen) Iranianassets (in the US)." The presidential office, he said, would follow such legal casesand in return the Iranian courts would also follow up legal disputeswith the US, DPA quoted the Iranian news agency as saying.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/480980
