30 killed in week of violence in India's northeast

GAUHATI, India, Aug 12, SPA -- Suspected rebels killed fourHindi-speaking migrant workers before dawn Sunday and threemore bodies were found from an earlier killing in India'sinsurgency-wracked northeast, police said, bringing thedeath toll from a week of violence to 30. «About six militants armed with assault rifles arrived inthe village of Romgmong Ghat, barged into two houses andshot four people dead after dragging them out earlySunday,» said L.R. Bishnoi, a senior police officer inAssam state. Also, police carrying out searches near the site wheregunmen shot dead 11 migrant workers late Friday, foundthree more bodies, bringing the toll to 14, Bishnoi saidSunday.
