U.N. Chief Condemns Iraq Violence

United Nations, July 10, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned Sunday’s terrorist bombing in Amirli, Iraq which killed 130 and injured 240, U.N. deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said Monday. Ban “condemns in the strongest terms such heinous acts which target innocent civilians. He extends his condolences to the families of the victims and expresses his hope that the wounded will recover soon,” Okabe told reporters. “The secretary-general once again urges all Iraqi leaders to work together to bring the violence to a halt and engage in a real political dialogue in the hopes of building a peaceful and stable Iraq,” said Okabe.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/466191
