ISLAMABAD, August 14, SPA -- President General Pervez Musharraf has assured the foreign investors of security, political stability and the continuity of economic policies so that they continue to play their positive role in Pakistan's economic development. "We will go through the election process and there will be political stability in Pakistan ," the President said in a special live television programme "Aiwan-e-Sadr Say" (from the presidential palace) Monday night. About the investment trends in the prevailing political and security environment in Pakistan, the President said "unfortunately over the past six months whatever has been happening has had a negative trend, which we are observing." He, however, added that with the continuity of policies the foreign direct investment will reach $Ten billion next year. "I would like to assure the foreign investors that there would be political stability. We are fighting terrorism and extremism and will defeat them with all our will and determination."
