Istanbul, Dec 16, SPA -- The Turkish Air Force on Sunday attacked severalpositions of the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq,targeting villages in the Kandil mountains, DPA quoted the Turkish General Staffas saying. The attacks went on for more than three hours. One woman had been killed in the attacks, Turkish news channelCNN-Turk reported referring to Kurdish sources in northern Iraq. A total of 10 villages had been bombarded, the reports said. According to Turkish estimates, some 3,000 PKK fighters arepositioned in the northern Iraqi mountains, neighbouring Turkey. At the beginning of December, special units of the Turkishmilitary for the first time attacked the PKK rebels in northern Iraqafter the parliament had given its authorization.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/509819
