U.S. helicopter goes down after coming under fire

BAGHDAD, July 31, SPA -- A U.S. helicopter went down Tuesday after coming under fire in eastern Baghdad, and the crew members were safely evacuated, the military said. The AH-64 Apache helicopter made a precautionary landing after facing ground fire east of the predominantly Shiite New Baghdad district, according to a statement. U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Garver said it was not known if the aircraft had been damaged, but the incident was under investigation.
