Amman, JULY 22, SPA -- Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair was due to inAmman Monday for talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdul IlahKhatib on efforts to relaunch peace talks between Israel and thePalestinians, REPORTED DPA. The discussions were to take place on the eve of a meeting inWashington between Jordan's King Abdullah II and US President GeorgeBush. The Jordanian-US summit was expected to focus on Bush's latestproposal for convening an international conference in autumn to bedevoted to creation of a Palestinian state. Blair, who quit at the end of June as British prime minister, tookpart in the Quartet's meeting for the first time in Lisbon onThursday, when the panel expressed backing for Bush's proposal.
