Blast wounds 4 NATO soldiers in southern Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, JULY 7, SPA -- A roadside blast struck aNATO convoy in southern Afghanistan and wounded fouralliance soldiers Saturday, while fighting in threeseparate regions of the country left more than 100militants dead, AP QUOTED officials as saying. The NATO convoy was attacked west of Kandahar city, andthe four wounded soldiers were evacuated to a nearbymilitary hospital, said Maj. John Thomas, a NATO spokesman. Qari Yousef Ahmadi, a purported Taliban spokesman, said asuicide bomber had attacked the convoy. An Associated Press reporter at the site of the blast saidthe wounded soldiers were Canadian, but their nationalitiescould not immediately be officially confirmed.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/465478
