ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN, JUNE 03, SPA -- Pakistan and Afghanistan's Jirga (tribal elders) commissions have set up a technical committee to facilitate the holding of a joint Jirga in the first week of August in Kabul that will make recommendations to curb terrorism and promote peace in Afghanistan and in the tribal areas of Pakistan, officials said. The committee will meet frequently to handle technical and logistical arrangements about the joint Jirga and will also draft procedural rules for the gathering, which will be submitted to both commissions for approval. The two Jirga commissions that met in Islamabad last week agreed on an agenda for the joint Jirga. During the visit, the Afghan side held extensive rounds of talks with the Pakistani Jirga commission led by Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao. This was the third meeting between the two Jirga commissions.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/455543
