Washington, APRIL 4, SPA -- New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday criticized President Bush for his plan to veto a measure setting a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq. This is vetoing the will of the American people, Clinton said. It is time for us to get them out of the middle of this sectarian civil war. Clinton began her day by joining former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and his wife, Christie, for breakfast at their Mount Pleasant home. Clinton hopes to build support for her presidential campaign by joining the Vilsacks, who endorsed her last week. Vilsack dropped out of the presidential race in February. Clinton focused on opposition to the war in Iraq and renewable fuels. Mingling with activists at the Vilsack home, Clinton blamed Republicans for working to divide Americans. We really do need to reject that, Clinton said. They kept that up because it works. Later in the morning, Clinton toured a biodiesel plant in Crawfordsville, near Mount Pleasant. The $7.5 million plant was built with help from a $3.25 million loan guarantee and $500,000 grant, both from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Clinton said that plant, which can produce 10 million gallons of biofuel annually, is the type of rural economic development she would pursue as president. It's putting people to work and adding to the local economy, she said. This is an exciting example of what we want to see happen across rural America. On her latest trip to Iowa, Clinton has focused on her ties to rural Upstate New York and the region's 34,000 farms. After touring the biodiesl plant, Clinton was scheduled to hold town meetings in Iowa City and Waterloo. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/438242
