BRNO, Czech Republic, MAY 25, SPA -- Ukrainian President ViktorYushchenko canceled his trip to the Czech Republic toattend an annual gathering of heads of state from central,southern and eastern Europe due to the deepening politicalcrisis in his country, AP QUOTED Czech President Vaclav Klaus as saying Friday. Klaus, speaking on the second day of a three-day meeting,said a «tense» political situation forced Yushchenko tostay at home. He gave no other details. The former Soviet republic has been mired in politicalcrisis since Yushchenko last month ordered parliamentdissolved and called for new elections _ a move he said wasnecessary to prevent his longtime rival, Prime MinisterViktor Yanukovych from usurping power. The crisis deepened Friday when Yushchenko orderedInterior Ministry troops placed under his command. Round-table discussions and bilateral talks among 15presidents were scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Brno,the Czech Republic's second-largest city, located 200kilometers (125 miles) southeast of Prague.
