SEOUL, May 15, SPA -- South and North Korea stepped up today efforts to finalize the historic test run of trains across the heavily fortified border between the two states, the Unification Ministry said Tuesday. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the two sides have built a joint railway in the western and eastern sections of the Korean Peninsula near the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) dividing the two Koreas, where trains are expected to pass on Thursday for the first time in more than half a century. Earlier in the day, the two sides completed radio tests between Dorasan Station in the South and Panmun Station in the North and the South's Jejin Station and the North's Kamho Station, all stations closest to the border on both sides, the ministry said. With military arrangements now in place, one South Korean train is scheduled to travel to the North and then return to its origin in the west of the peninsula, while the North Korean train will travel to the South along the east coast.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/449862
