ISLAMABAD, MAY 26, SPA -- Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsanul Haq has visited Pentagon and held talks with General Peter Pace, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), United States Armed Forces, said a message received from Washington. Both the officials expressed satisfaction on the on-going military to military cooperation between the two countries and vowed to further enhance the relationship. Haq said Pakistan has been the victim of terrorism since the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. "We remain steadfast in our opposition to terrorism. However, we are convinced that international community needs to address the root causes that are found in unresolved disputes like Kashmir and Palestine involving denial of rights to people, military interventions, prevailing sense of deprivation and wide spread abject poverty," he said. He added that the problem of terrorism must be addressed as a package in which military instrument should only be used at a limited scale to create the enabling environment for a comprehensive solution.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/453207
