Moscow insists rows with Poland, Estonia not EU issue

Moscow, May 16, SPA -- The Kremlin today denied there was a crisisin EU-Russia relations and said current diplomatic rows betweenMoscow and nations such as Poland and Estonia should not cloud thisweek's EU-Russia summit, reported the dpa. Certain new EU members had "young and unprofessional" governmentswho wished to air their own "complexes" on an EU-Russia level, theKremlin's EU envoy Sergei Yastrzhembsky told reporters in Moscow. "Our old and trusted EU partners also recognize this,"Yastrzhembsky said following talks the previous day with Frank-WalterSteinmeier, foreign minister of current EU presidency holder Germany."We are trying together to resolve these problems." The EU envoy reiterated the Kremlin's position that the currentspats with Poland over meat imports and with Estonia over therelocation of a Soviet-era war memorial were bilateral issues and hadnothing to do with Brussels.-- SPA www.spa.gov.sa/450335
