ISLAMABAD, MAY 4, SPA -- Pakistan and Iran have agreed to speed up Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) Gas Pipeline Project as it would create linkages and interdependencies leading to a win-win situation for all and promote peace in the region. These views were expressed at a meeting between Pakistan s Petroleum Minister Amanullah Jadoon and Iranian Oil Minister Seyed Kazem Viziri Hamaneh on the sidelines of the 2nd Asian Energy Ministerial Roundtable in Saudi Arabia, according to a message received in Islamabad. The two ministers expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress on the IPI project and desired its early implementation for the benefit of all the stakeholders and entire region. Jadoon said Pakistan and Iran enjoys deep rooted cordial and brotherly relations based on Islamic fraternity, culture and commonality of views on regional and international issues. He briefed his Iranian counterpart about the steps being taken by the government for promoting the energy sector on modern line and efforts to explore the untapped hydrocarbon and alternate resources. The two sides agreed that there exists a lot of potential and opportunities for expanding the level of multi dimensional bilateral cooperation and exchanged views to explore more avenues of cooperation in diversified fields between the two brotherly Muslim countries particularly in the oil & gas. Reciprocating his sentiments, the Iranian Oil Minister said that Iran attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Pakistan which were growing and strengthening in multi-dimensional fields including the oil and gas. Seyed Kazam Viziri Hamaneh said expeditious implementation of IPI gas pipe line project would promote peace and prosperity in the region and bring the people closure.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/446651
