BERLIN, September 01, SPA -- The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog said he is hopeful of progress in the standoff over Iran'snuclear program following a cooperation agreement, butcautioned Iran against wasting «a great chance _ perhapsthe last one,» according to an interview releasedSaturday. Mohamed ElBaradei's International Atomic Energy Agency andIran agreed last month on a timetable to respond tolingering questions over Tehran's nuclear activities. «There are hopeful, positive signals,» ElBaradei wasquoted as saying in an interview with the weekly DerSpiegel, released ahead of its publication Sunday. «Forthe first time, we have agreed with the Iranians on a kindof road map, a timetable according to which the outstandingquestions should be cleared up.» «By November, at the latest December, we should be ableto see whether the Iranians are keeping the promises theygave,» he said, according to the report. «If they did notdo that, a great chance _ perhaps the last one _ would belost for Tehran.»--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/479067
