New Delhi, April 10, SPA -- Indian soldiers killed at least eight separatist rebels in a gun battle in the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, officials said. Troops from the Indian Army surrounded the rebels belonging to the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in a thickly forested area in the eastern Lohit district and shot dead eight of them, Indian Army spokesman SK Sakhuja said. "The eight slain militants included two women cadres," Sakhuja said, adding the army had not suffered any casualties in the clash. Meanwhile, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that the operation was continuing and the army had seized two AK-47 assault rifles from the scene. Tuesday's action targeted the ULFA camps in the Arunachal state, Army officials were quoted as saying by the German News Agency "DPA."--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/439759
