KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ EXTENDED AN INVITATION TO THE PALESTINIAN LEADERS TO HOLD A MEETING AT THE VICINITY OF THE HOLY MOSQUE OF MAKKAH TO SETTLE THEIR DISPUTE WITHOUT INTERVENTION FROM ANY PARTY. THANKFULLY, THE PALESTINIAN LEADERS POSITIVELY RESPONDED TO THE INVITATION AND MET IN MAKKAH TO SIGN MAKKAH AGREEMENT ON FEBRUARY 8, 2007, AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE PALESTINIAN UNITY GOVERNMENT WAS FORMED IN MARCH 15, 2007. AS REGARDS LEBANON, SAUDI ARABIA CONDEMNED THE ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST IT IN LAST JULY AND URGED THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO SHOULDER ITS RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS THE ISRAELI AGGRESSION. THE VISIT OF CROWN PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDULAZIZ, THE DEPUTY PREMIER, DEFENSE AND AVIATION MINISTER AND INSPECTOR GENERAL TO PARIS IN LAST JULY AND HIS MEETING WITH FRENCH PRESIDENT JACQUES CHIRAC CAME IN LINE WITH THE EFFORTS OF THE KINGDOM TO REACH A SETTLEMENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST.--MORE www.spa.gov.sa/435914
