Tel Aviv, Mar 27, SPA -- The Israeli Foreign Ministry has apologized to the British Deputy Consul-general, who was strip-searched during a call on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the United Press International (UPI) reported today. Janet Rogan, one of the top British diplomats in Israel, was subjected to the search while she was escorting a group of British Treasury officials to formal meetings. Olmert's security detail unit detained her in spite of her presentation of diplomatic credentials, Ynet News reported. Olmert's office issued a statement saying that it has updated procedures to make sure similar mistakes do not happen. Israeli Chief of Protocol Yitzhak Eldan apologized to Rogan in person. Rogan in her complaint said that members of the delegation she was with were shocked by what happened.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/436202
