PAKISTAN'S ELECTION COMMISSION COMPLETES COMPILING COMPUTERIZED ELECTORAL ROLLS

ISLAMABAD, OCT 24, SPA -- Pakistan s Election Commission has successfully completed the first phase of the compiling the first ever-computerized electoral rolls across Pakistan. We have completed the task. The data has been gathered which will now be computerized, Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad told the reporters. He said a computerization firm of international repute is being engaged for this purpose. We are ensuring accuracy and transparency to avoid double or bogus entries. The process of collecting data for the new computerized electoral rolls was started from July 14 this year. After reaching out to 20 million households across Pakistan in a marathon exercise, the Election Commission successfully completed this task by 16th of current month. Dilshad said around 115,000 staffers were hired for distribution and collection of the data forms who strenuously performed their duties to the satisfaction of the Commission and the voters. This is a remarkable achievement. We have ensured transparency avoiding double or entries, he said adding that the firm hired for computerization of this data will also ensure preparation of an error free final list of voters that would be used in the next parliamentary and local elections.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/397905
