TOKYO, Jan 5, SPA -- Japan is not considering a Russian idea to evenly divide the land area of a string of islands that the two countries have been disputing for some 60 years, AP quoted the Japanese government's top spokesman as saying today. Earlier this week, the Mainichi newspaper reported that a Russian Foreign Ministry official had raised the idea during casual talks in Moscow with a visiting Japanese politician in November. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki told reporters, however, that such a solution was not on the table.«The Japanese government has not offered such a proposal, nor is it considering such a proposal,» Shiozaki said.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/415915
