BAGHDAD, Iraq, Jan. 19, SPA -- A roadside bomb killed one U.S. soldier and wounded three others in an attack against a patrol in Baghdad, The Associated Press quoted the military as saying today. The Multi-National Division _ Baghdad soldier was killed and three others were wounded Thursday when the blast struck as the patrol was escorting a convoy in a northwestern section of the capital, according to the statement. Their identities were not released pending notification of relatives. The military said members of the unit have been escorting numerous convoys carrying troops and materials throughout Baghdad in the past week. U.S. and Iraqi forces are gearing up for a major neighborhood-by-neighborhood sweep aimed at quelling the spiraling violence in the capital.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/419151
