N'DJAMENA, Chad, Nov 24, SPA -- Chad extended a state of emergency Friday for six months in the country's volatile east, where ethnic clashes have killed up to 400 people. The National Assembly voted 77-0, with six abstentions, to extend last week's 10-day emergency declaration, the Associated Press reported. Prime Minister Pascal Yoadimnadji said more time was necessary «to restore peace and reconciliation» in Chad, an impoverished, landlocked country in central Africa.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/405790
