PARIS, Oct 17, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan says renewed fighting could break out in Western Sahara and calls for a U.N. mission overseeing a cease-fire there to be maintained, according to a report prepared for the Security Council. In the report dated Monday and scheduled for release to the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday, Annan called the mission «indispensable for the maintenance of thecease-fire.» The mission's mandate comes up for renewal on October 31. The mandate has been regularly renewed since the force's creation. In the new report, Annan noted that the U.N. does not want to impose a solution, but is committed to helping Morocco and Polisario come to a consensus, the Associated Press reported.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/396690
