BEIJING, Oct 8, SPA -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said they were «deeply concerned» over a possible North Korean nuclear test and promised to cooperate in getting Pyongyang to stand down, according to a Japanese official. «Hu and Abe, during their talks, said they were deeplyconcerned over North Korea's threat to conduct a nucleartest, and they vowed to cooperate to dissuade it fromconducting one,» a senior Japanese delegation officialtold reporters on the condition of anonymity followingstandard practice. The official did not provide any details on how the Asian powers, whose relations have been estranged over energy competition, territorial issues and rows over their history in recent years, would try to exert pressure on Pyongyang. Abe, who is making a fence-mending visit to China, put the North Korean issue at the top of his agenda followingPyongyang's announced intention last week to conduct anuclear test.
