Tehran, OCT 21, SPA -- Iran on Saturday once again called on the EuropeanUnion to return to the negotiation table to find a diplomaticsettlement in the dispute over Iran's controversial nuclearprogrammes. "Our sincere recommendation (to the EU) is to maintain itsindependence, return to the negotiations table and not refer tomeasures which have already been carried out in vain," DPA quoted ForeignMinister Manuchehr Mottaki as saying at a press conference in Tehran. The foreign minister was referring to possible sanctions by theUnited Nations Security Council against Iran due to its non-compliance with resolution 1696 to suspend its uranium enrichmentprogramme. "We see no logic in suspension as our nuclear programmes are legaland fully in line with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) but we arestill prepared to raise this issue in negotiations, as well" Mottakisaid.
