LONDON, JULY 4, SPA -- BRITISH PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIR TUESDAY URGED IRAN TO COME TO THE NEGOTIATING TABLE OVER ITS NUCLEAR AMBITIONS "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." BLAIR TOLD A PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE THAT THERE WAS NO DEADLINE ON THE OFFER TO ENTER TALKS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES. BUT HE ADDED: "I WANT A RESPONSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." BLAIR SAID HE WANTED TO WORK WITH IRAN BECAUSE OF ITS INFLUENCE IN NEIGHBOURING IRAQ, BUT STRESSED THAT FEARS OVER ITS ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES CAME FIRST. "IT’S IMPORTANT THAT WE DO COOPERATE WITH THEM ... BUT THIS IS PART OF A BIGGER ISSUE, I’M AFRAID," HE WAS QUOTED AS SAYING BY THE GERMAN NEWS AGENCY "DPA". --SPA 04/07/2006 15:22 ت م www.spa.gov.sa/373272
